MTA spokesperson Kevin Ortiz said the brown, wooden benches that work crews removed from the platform at the 207th Street A-train station around March 23 would be returned within a few days after being modified. The benches, each one about as long as an SUV, are being outfitted to make them more uncomfortable to sleep on.
It is part of the MTA’s initiative to discourage homeless people from loitering in the station.
