Mamajuana group to purchase Dyckman Deli by Carla Zanoni This spring Dyckman Deli at the corner of Seaman Avenue will be converted into a new Mamajuana restaurant, owners of both establishments confirmed this week. Jihad Ammar, who has owned Dyckman Deli for nine years, said that he approached the owners of Mamajuana with a proposal to sell the remainder of his lease of three and a half years to the restaurant group. The two are now in negotiations with the site’s management company to transfer the lease to make way for a new Mamajuana restaurant venture, which would be the third in a two-block stretch of Dyckman Street just west of Broadway. |

Bader When you walk into the Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz Memorial, Educational and Cultural Center on Broadway near W. 165th Street, the first thing you see is not the beautiful marble colonnade and floor, or the interactive touch screen computers – it’s the bronze statue of Malcolm X, gazing out into the large, mostly empty space. |
